ABOUT CANINE UK
Canine UK is a national collective of highly skilled canine professionals specialising in behaviour rehabilitation, advanced obedience and real-world training.
WHO WE ARE
WE’RE HERE FOR THE DOGS OTHERS STRUGGLE WITH.
We work with dogs ranging from much-loved family pets needing structure and clarity through to complex behavioural cases involving aggression, predation, resource guarding, severe reactivity and failed previous training. Our philosophy is simple: behaviour does not change by accident. Every outcome is influenced by genetics, environment, learning history, fulfilment, handling and communication. Lasting change requires more than generic advice or one-size-fits-all training plans. At Canine UK, we assess each dog objectively and build a strategic training framework tailored to the individual in front of us. We do not chase trends. We do not rely on guesswork. We engineer behavioural change. Designed. Structured. Deliberate. Engineered.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
CLARITY. STRUCTURE. CONSISTENCY

Clarity
Dogs thrive when communication is clear and expectations are consistent.

Structure
Calm structure builds confidence, reliability and emotional stability.

Balance
Training should be fair, appropriate and tailored to the dog in front of us.

Real World Reliability
Training must hold up where it matters most: everyday life, distraction, pressure and challenge.

James Herrington is Co-Founder and Principal Rehabilitation Specialist at Canine UK. With over 8 years of professional experience, he is known for transforming difficult, misunderstood and behaviourally complex dogs through structured, realistic and accountable training.
James’ background in rescue rehabilitation and hands-on behavioural work led him towards specialising in cases requiring significant structure, clarity and experienced handling. He is recognised as a Dogtra UK Master Trainer, specialising in professional e-collar communication and advanced off-lead reliability. James is particularly well known for his work with bull breeds, Rottweilers, working dogs and powerful breeds requiring realistic rehabilitation and accountable handling. Originally training within force-free methodologies, James recognised that many severe behavioural cases required a more balanced, honest and practical approach. This led him into advanced education and mentorship under Lisa Whitehouse before becoming her business partner and co-founder of Canine UK. James is widely respected for his calm, straightforward and results-driven approach.

"Complex behaviour needs calm strategy, not guesswork. Every dog deserves an individual approach built around risk, welfare, clarity and long-term stability." Lisa Whitehouse
Lisa Whitehouse is Co-Founder and Principal Behaviour Strategist at Canine UK. With over 20 years of specialist experience, she has built a highly respected reputation across the UK and internationally for working with complex, challenging and behaviourally deteriorated dogs.
Holding a degree in Psychology, an Advanced Diploma in Canine Behaviour, and currently studying towards an MSc in Clinical Animal Behaviour, Lisa combines academic understanding with extensive real-world case expertise. She is also the Co-Founder and Chair of the National Association for Professional E-Collar Training (NAPET), where she plays a leading role in raising professional standards, education, accountability and ethical practice within the dog training industry. Lisa is particularly recognised for her work with complex behavioural cases, especially where previous interventions have failed. She continues to work alongside local authorities and associated services, supporting dogs in challenging welfare and behavioural circumstances where experienced intervention is critical. She is regularly invited to contribute to local and national radio discussions surrounding canine behaviour, welfare and modern dog ownership. At home, Lisa lives with five very different dogs: a Caucasian Shepherd x German Shepherd, a Rottweiler, a Tibetan Terrier x Maltese and two Chihuahuas. That daily reality continues to shape her strategic, balanced and highly individualised approach to behavioural change. Clients travel from across the UK and beyond because Lisa’s philosophy remains constant: clarity, structure, strategy and results.
